Maverick Advocaten assists importer in anti-dumping investigation by European Commission

Cyriel Ruers and Bas van Os are assisting an importer of valine in an investigation by the European Commission into alleged dumping of valine from China.

The anti-dumping investigation was opened following a complaint by Eurolysine SAS. Eurolysine alleges that imports of valine are being dumped on the EU market and are causing harm to the EU industry. Several stakeholders, including exporters, importers and end users are participating in the investigation.

A non-EU company is considered dumping a product, if a product is exported to the EU at a price lower than the normal value of the product. This normal value is based on the prices on the cost of production, or the prices on the home market of the exporter. The Commission may, if it finds dumping that causes injury to the Union industry, impose (provisional) anti-dumping measures. These measures consist of import duties.
