Martijn van de Hel provided Tony's Chocolonely with competition law advise on the entry of new shareholders JamJar and Verlinvest. The team also assisted Tony's Chocolonely in obtaining the ACM’s approval for the acquisition. The transaction was cleared by the ACM on 9 March 2020.
Tony's Chocolonely is a Dutch company with a mission to make all chocolate 100% slave free. Next to this, Tony's Chocolonely strives for better labor conditions for cocoa farmers. For this end, Tony's purchases its cocoa beans directly from its partner cooperatives in Ghana and Ivory Coast and operates in close collaboration with these cooperatives. JamJar is the Innocent drinks founders' venture capital fund. Verlinvest is the investment company of the Belgian families who own the Belgian beer giant AB InBev.
