At the request of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, Maverick Advocaten has drawn up a report together with the STC-Nestra market research agency on the possibilities of strengthening the market structure in the inland navigation sector. The report provides a description of the inland navigation sector and an analysis of the possibilities of working together with inland navigation companies, as well as identifying the competition law frameworks that are relevant to commercial partnerships. It is apparent from the report that there is still little movement on the market, despite the period of financial difficulties. The fragmentation of the market and the problems in matching supply and demand must primarily be solved by the market players themselves. The Minister has sent the report to the Lower House (see the letter to the Lower House) and has called on inland navigation companies to focus more on partnerships and to aim for increased stability in the sector (see the press release).
