Cyriel Ruers, Saskia Stolk and Paul Breithaupt advise international booking platform on various aspects of European consumer law.
Many rules on online sales (e-commerce) are set at European level. Almost all companies selling products or services to consumers have to comply with them. The EU introduces more and more rules. Often, these directives and regulations are ambiguous and leave room for interpretation. The advantage is that the rules are basically the same throughout the EU, although Member States are sometimes allowed to implement stricter rules and enforcement can differ from one Member State to another. In addition to the legislation, there is an increasing number of guidelines and other forms of interpretation of these rules by the European Commission and national authorities. Maverick Advocaten advised the online booking platform on the possibilities and limits of European consumer law in the different member states.
